About Us

Groveton, Texas, the county seat of Trinity County, located at the intersection of State Highway 94 and U.S. Highway 287, near the center of the county.  The community was established in 1881, when the Trinity County and Sabine Pass Land and Railway Company built a lumber mill on the south side of its newly laid tracks and plotted town site on the north side.

The Courthouse, in a night view, was built in the early 1900's and has been restored to its original glory and is now the showplace in East Texas.

Recreational activities abound as Davy Crockett National Forest is a haven for deer hunters, campers, and others desiring to enjoy the outdoors.  Lake Livingston and the Trinity River are nearby for boating and fishing activities.

There's easy living here where folks are friendly and you can commune with nature every day.  The Piney Woods are a great place to raise kids as our schools are recognized and sponsor an agricultural fair each year where students, as a project, raise and show animals.

We always appreciate visitors to our city.
